Jason Goldberg has been promoted to chief creative officer at STX Entertainment’s Digital and New Media Group and its Alternative Content division. The reward comes as STX’s non-scripted TV division under his leadership has sold and secured deals for 25 shows to networks in the U.S, China, India, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

STX launched the division in April and hired Goldberg — the co-founder with Ashton Kutcher of Katalyst Media — with the title of President of Non-Scripted and Alternative Programming. The unit has ramped up fast; Goldberg is now in production on four series with on-air commitments and is filming two series orders for 2017. The latter list includes the first local-language show developed by a U.S.-based entertainment company for broadcast in China, the variety-reality series Top Surprise, which launches this month on the Hunan network.

Goldberg co-founded and ran Katalyst from 2000-14 before it was sold, creating and producing MTV’s Punk’d among other series. He also produced 10 movies including the Kutcher-starring The Butterfly Effect.
